55-Inch TV Install for a PS5 Setup, In-Wall Cables, in Boca Raton, FL

This Boca Raton install was a 55-inch TCL TV set up for a PlayStation 5, with full in-wall cable concealment down to a low-voltage wall plate — no console below to hide it behind, just a clean termination point near the outlet.

A gaming setup needs a different cable, not just a fire-rated one

Every in-wall HDMI run needs a CL2 or CL3 fire-safety rating — that's non-negotiable, no exceptions, on any job. But a PS5 running 4K at 120Hz needs something else on top of that: an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, the HDMI 2.1 spec rated for the full 48Gbps of bandwidth that resolution and frame rate actually requires. A cable can be perfectly code-compliant for in-wall use and still choke a high-frame-rate gaming signal if it's not also rated for that bandwidth — fire code and gaming performance are two separate specs, and a cable has to satisfy both, not just one.

No furniture, no problem — planning the exit point around the outlet instead

Most of our in-wall jobs plan the cable's exit point around where a console or media cabinet will sit. This wall didn't have one, so the low-voltage plate was placed directly next to the existing power outlet instead — close enough that both terminate in the same visual area, so there's no stray plate floating on an otherwise bare wall.

Testing with the actual device, not just a cable tester

Once the TV was up and the cable run was finished, we connected the PS5 itself to confirm the signal — not just that a cable tester showed continuity, but that the console actually recognized the input and displayed properly at its intended settings. A cable can pass a basic continuity check and still underperform at 4K 120Hz; running the real device is the only way to know it actually works the way it's supposed to.

The result: a 55-inch TV with a gaming console properly signal-tested through an in-wall run built for both fire code and 4K 120Hz bandwidth — not just one or the other.
